▶ Read this if you...

✔ have no idea where to start your home styling

Colors

Some of you probably already know the color of 2021.

The Pantone colors of the year are Illuminating in a yellow shade and Ultimate Gray in a neutral tone.

However, it seems not easy to use these colors easily in interior design and home styling. It's because there are many things to consider, such as furniture, walls, and floor colors that you own already.

So we have researched a few color palettes that you can blend in your space and change the vibe of the house!

1. Earthy Tone, Colors of Nature

The colors of nature seem to continue to carry their popularity in the summer of 2021.

It looks like ivory, cream, light beige colors from natural fabrics such as linen and cotton, the light wooden colors from rattan and the warm gray color from stones will be in trend for a while.

The only difference is that there are green colors from plants along with them.

You'll see various shades of greens, such as olive green, emerald green, ash green, sage green this summer.

You can add a natural green with planterior to create a relaxing and natural look.

Using items with botanical patterns or natural fabric like linen and cotton is also a good option.

2. Warm Color Palette

Other colors of the year are marigold, illuminating, green ash, cerulean, burnt coral.

They are warm shades that embrace both dynamic energy and warm mellowness.

It's good to pick only one or two colors as highlights among many colors in the color palette.

However, you can still decorate your home in a modern and trendy style using many colors at once since all of these colors are not that rich.

💡 Editor K's Tip 💡

Change large furniture into earthy tone colors.

If you fill the space with small items, such as colorful small lights, rugs, curtains, fabric posters, chairs, the whole area looks clean and fresh overall.

* It's hard to change the color of large furniture once you purchase them, and also it might cost over your budget.

Then, it is also a good idea to replace the fabric with earthy colors such as sofa cover and tablecloth. 👩‍🏫

Materials

1. Natural Materials - Wood and Stone

Some of you may have already noticed from the colors above.

The fame of wooden materials is not going down at all.

The smooth and bright textures from wooden items made of wisteria tree or rattan are still trendy.

The comfort and durability of wooden materials are likely attracting people.

With the popularity of natural materials, rustic ceramic tableware, vases, and flower pots capture people's attention. If you're into planterior, you might already have at least a ceramic pot or terracotta pot.😁

2. Mix and Match

As we stay longer at home, more people tried to relieve boredom by decorating with fun items to their home.

That's probably why any items with hints of fun and creativity become very popular. Also, we can see more often many mixtures of various materials and styles, such as modern rug and natural material, rustic and contemporary, acrylic and natural material, etc.

Many of you think it would be tricky, but mix-and-match is, in fact, easier than you think.

You don't have to use only modern style's items just because your pace is contemporary. So try bold colors or contrasting objects you want.

But if it's not easy to challenge, refer to examples of various mix-match.

If you are still not confident, look for the reference of various mix-and-match as many as you can. Then try to add some fun elements all over the house!😋

Styles

Even if you know about the color and material, it may not be comfortable to apply directly to interior design and home styling.

It's because there are more things to consider, such as existing furniture, walls, and floor colors.

So here are some tips that help you can be up to trend and change the vibe in your home.

3. Home Display

The home display is a way that highlights storage functions and layout decor items as if a home decoration store. It is one of the ways that became popular since the interest in organizing and storing increases as we spend more time at home. If you like minimal style, it's also good to try this method with customized furniture or modular furniture.

4. Granny Chic

Granny chic is a little different from the vintage style.

This style looks like a small cottage in a fairy tale, or it reminds us of our grandmothers' houses. The key features here are colorful fabric with floral patterns, extravagant decorations, and crochet or knitting table covers.

Adding some modern decorative objects on top of them, you can design well-blended retro-contemporary styles.

And it will create a unique ambiance as if space becomes a work of art.😉

5. Japnadi

Japandi is a combination of Japan and Scandinavia. This style contains the minimalism of Japan and the natural modern style of Northern Europe.

It presents simplistic designs that reduce any unnecessaries and creating a space to have balance with nature.

It features a practical and simple design of Northern Europe with neutral colors with low chroma and natural materials such as wood, stone, leather. If you feel familiar with it as if you've seen it somewhere, you're right!🙆‍♀️

This styling has been in our lives deeply already, as you can see from the chic neutral colored wall and wooden furniture, line curtains for natural lights, practical space layout, indoor plants, terracotta pots, and so on.
