📚☕🌹

On the day we redecorated the house, got a new pretty item for home decor, on a lazy weekend, or prepared a home brunch as great as a cafe.....

You take pictures to remember the moment and share it with many people!

One of the most common objects that are always being used in the pictures is books with a good-looking cover. The title and cover might be more familiar than the contents of the book. 😎 So Editor K investigated inside these pretty books. Then, shall we take a look at books that we've seen a lot on In⭐gram?

👩‍🏫 The cover is not the only thing pretty. The book itself is worth it to keep for the rest of your life.

You will find tons of books for decoration out there, which is too hard to list them all when you search "decorative books." It's a shame that those are just used as props since they contain stories with a lot of effort from publishers and writers if you look at each one of them closely.

Trendy and beautiful covers are just the tip of the iceberg! They were all notable books that you might want to keep forever. So, we talk about some of the books you've seen the most.

🙋‍♀️LEON, is it a cookbook? No, a restaurant?

Thanks to its bright and colorful vintage cover, you can find this book at retro-styled cafes ro restaurants. It looks so familiar, right?

Leon is a fast-food chain that John Vincent and Henry Dimbleby first opened in Carnaby Street, London, England, in 2004. Six months after opening to defeat stereotypes about fast food with healthy fresh ingredients, Leon was named the "Best New Restaurant in Great Britain" and has become popular that it now has more than 60 restaurants worldwide.

🙋‍♀️ Fresh and healthy fast food...?

Leon's menus, which have a bold flavor of simple recipes using fresh local ingredients, are fast foods cooked quickly, but they have all great taste, healthy recipes, and eye-catching plating. In 2008, they published a cookbook, "LEON: Ingredients and Recipes," which has recipes of their fresh, healthy, and delicious menus.

Since then, they have published dozens of cookbooks so far, including the BIG BOOKS series containing best Leon recipes, the LITTLE LEONS series that assembles simple recipes cooked in 20 minutes, and the HAPPY COOKBOOKS series with 100 recipes by cooking types. A new book was released recently.

🙋‍♀️ Then which books are the ones we've seen a lot?

Among the series of books, the one we used to see a lot as a decorative object is the LITTLE LEON series. It's actually smaller and cuter than you might expect, and the insides are even more adorable. (Little Leon is more pretty in person!😋)

If you're worried that it is too small to have good content, then you're totally wrong!

It has lists of great simple recipes and is also published translating into Korean.

I'd love to fly to London right away to taste Leon's famous menus, but since we are under Coivd-19, why don't we cook the menu of Leon's cookbook to feel like traveling in London?

(Fun Fact! The restaurant was named John Vincent's father, Leon)

🙋‍♀️ KINFOLK, a leading slow lifestyle?

Kinfolk Magazine is probably more popular with a matte and minimal designed cover that creates a feeling of calm and warmth just by putting it on the table. But, the magazine itself is already so famous for its great content, and many people enjoy reading it. Of course, it is one of editor K's favorite magazines.

Kinfolk is an independent slow lifestyle magazine published in Portland, Oregon, in 2011.

They started to focus on home, work, leisure, food, and communities through photo essays, recipes, interviews, personal stories, and living tips targeting young professionals.

Writers, photographers, designers, and chefs from all over the world are participating in Kinfolk, and there are often more than 50 people collaborating on one issue.

🙋‍♀️ Lifestyle magazine? What kind of content is in it?

Since it's only published four times a year, it contains food, culture, and lifestyle content that suited the season. Besides publishing magazines, Kinfolk organizes monthly "community gatherings" events in various regions to unite the global community of Kinfolk readers. They also produce various food-based workshops, cookbooks, and short film series. Beyond being just magazines, Kinfolk, became a trend leader who has changed the lifestyle of young people around the world, including Europe, Australia, and Japan, from "fast to slow to alone to together, complicated to simplistic." It has been published in more than 100 countries and translated into Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

🙋‍♀️ I don't know which issue to start. 😖

You can find what contents and topics each issue contains on the Kinfolk website, but they also have special publications.

In October 2013, Kinfolk published the first cookbook, [Kinfolk Table]. It contains favorite foods and recipes of people creatively leading their careers, such artists, farmers, writers, coffee professionals, musicians, chefs, florists, and so on, from Brooklyn, Copenhagen, England, Portland, and other international locations. For those who are interested in cooking, this book is the great one to start.

The second book [Kinfolk Home], published in 2015, features houses the story of interior design from several countries and regions, including Japan, France, and Scandinavia.

I think this book gives us a chance to think about the meaning of our lives and how we should communicate with each other while looking into our lives, not just the appearance of life.

A nice cup of coffee in a pretty mug newly bought and Kinfolk. Stop taking pictures, and have a peaceful moment reading the book with your coffee.

Urbanlike (urbanlike-mag.com)

🙋‍♀️ It's a Korean magazine?!

Urbanlike, which gets misunderstanding as a foreign magazine with unique, bold gothic fonts, is an urban fashion & lifestyle magazine first published in April 2013. Urbanlike presents content about city life based on humble and quiet sentiments rather than rich and diverse.

With the identity of BASED IN SEOUL, they seek a new paradigm as a magazine that is rooted in the consumer life of urban people who value fashion and culture and pursue mindfulness and practicality at the same time.

Urbanlike, a city archiving magazine, chooses issues worth recording and presents urban phenomena from its creative perspective. So I think it's a meaningful magazine to look inside the city we live in.

LOEWE (www.loewe.com)

🙋‍♀️ LOEWE... sounds so familiar...

It has a pure white cover with a simple logo that you might be super careful to even touch with a fear to give some stains, but it's a book that's used a lot for modern styling because it's full of elegant styles.

If you are interested in fashion brands, you would have heard of Loewe.

It's a Spanish luxury fashion brand with a long history. Since established in 1846, it has gained(still gaining) fame from the Royal Household of Spain and celebrities of the time, such as Ernest Hemingway and Sophia Loren. Karl Lagerfeld(a German fashion designer and Chanel's creative director) and Giorgio Armani and Laura Biagiotti(Italian designers that everyone knows) also designed their collection.

<Loewe Collection 2021>

🙋‍♀️ Why does the fashion brand have a book?

What is this book? 🧐LOEWE BOOK is a self-published limited edition to celebrate Loewe's 170th anniversary and is considered a useful reference boob rather than just a photo book. This book is like a documentary about its past, present, and future. Instead of listing the long stories of 170 years in chronological order, it contains Loewe's traditional philosophy, creation, and histories, conveying associations between Loewe’s current momentum and selected moments in its history. The 592-page book presents materials never introduced before, editorials, campaigns, old and new looks, as well as archived images and works that are deeply connected to brands and Spanish roots. So wouldn't it be worth looking at it once, no, dozens of times rather than leaving it on the shelf?

🙋‍♀️ Art Book? Magazine??

Many people like this book, which looks like an art book with a classic style and a luxurious hardcover cover. Union, founded in 2012, is a Japanese fashion and culture magazine that pursues high-quality aesthetic work with many artists around the world. The word 'Union' defines the state of being joined, united, or linked. And, It means creating beautiful aesthetics with artists from all over the world. As it says, "Fine Things Are Timeless," their aim of creating content is to be pleased after 10, 20, or 50 years. It is published only twice a year, and most recently, they released the 16th issue last January. If you're interested, check it out while waiting for the next one.

👩‍🏫 It's not food but travel & style magazine!

It's a very personal opinion. Looking at the cover, I think the design mixes the warmth of the Kinfolk and the classic of the Union. Besides magazines, Cereal publishes city guide books such as London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Copenhagen and regularly updates various stories through websites. Especially, I love their playlists uploaded on the website every season. If you can't get a magazine right away to read, listen to the Cereal playlist while decorating your space? I believe that your home styling will go better with good music.

🙋‍♀️ Where can I buy these books?
