What You Need

  • Vases: I bought from a dollar store. You can get whatever you have at home or recycle plastic bottles.

  • Water-based paint: white color from a dollar store

  • Paintbrush: also from a dollar store.

  • Acrylic colors: It's for coloring, and you can replace it with a watercolor

  • Baking soda

  • Bowl: for mixing the paint.

3 Ways to Create Textures

  1. Use the paint as it is.

Just paint it with white paint out of a can.

It is the most common way, and it can be a good option for those who prefer the clean and smooth textures of the vase.

2. Mix paint and baking soda.

Add baking soda into the white paint. Mixing baking soda makes paint thicken and gives the texture like cement.

If you like the textures of cement, plaster, or rough terra cotta, try the mixture of paint and baking soda.

3. Add colors.

Create colors, adding acrylic colors in your white paint. Try different colors as you desired.

You can mix with baking soda here as well.

💡

The left is a vase painted without additional ingredients, and the right is the one painted with a mixture of paint and baking soda. When you mix baking soda, it makes the paint thicker, so you will have a rough texture like cement.

Paint Vases

  • Left: Paint the whole vase with white paint and slightly paint over it with beige color.

  • Center: Paint the whole vase with the baking soda mixture and painted the beige color here and there.

  • Right: Mix the baking soda with the beige-color paint and apply the vase with it.

▶ Vases & Pots Styling Tips for Planterior◀

If DIY is too much for you or difficult to decorate because you have already planted, I have excellent styling ideas for your pots.

1. Paper Pots

You can buy paper pots, but you can also make them yourself with sheets of craft paper at home.

It is one of the great items that go well with green plants with a natural and rustic touch.

You can plant directly into a paper pot, but you can cover a pot for styling.

TIP : It looks better with wrinkled and wrinkled papers rather than a stiff and clean one.

2. Drawing on Pots

With a bit of touch on the vases, it makes it a great styling point that contrasts with green plants that can be monotonous.

3. Cover with Burlap or Patterned Fabrics

If you have handkerchiefs, scarves, fabrics, or clothing you don't use, wrap it in a pot. Try vivid and cool colors in the summer and soft knits materials in the winter. Your plants look like they are wearing new clothes every season.

4. Use Wooden Materials

Decorate vases or pots using wooden materials, such as wooden beads and wooden rings.

Attach beads with glue guns or sew them, and wrap the pot. You can make a thin, longer vase exceptional by stacking wooden rings on it! You need to calculate the size of the pots and vases before making them, though.

In this post, I introduced how to make ceramic-looking vases using dollar store items and ideas to recreate your pots at home into small changes.

You don't have to buy expensive and good pots to achieve a pretty planterior.

So, try one of those I share with you on this post.🤗
