🎃Best Movies for Halloween on Netflix

Halloween Movies Recommendation

🎃👻💀

Editor K's favorite day of the year is Christmas, but there is another big day before Christmas I never miss and always do something special. It's HALLOWEEN! When I was in New York, I prepared so thoroughly that I even brainstormed about my Halloween costume from September. Then on Halloween day, I wore my self-made costume and had fun with my friends at parties from afternoon to dawn. (Can I go back to that time? 😓) It's already been three years since the last time I had it. So! I have decided to enjoy this year! And I turned my office into a hunted house! (If you're curious how it turned, check it out now.)

I'm very much excited to enjoy Halloween the whole month of October after longing for years. 🤗 Now, all I need is a creepy horror movie in this eerie space! Therefore, I picked movies to boost the Halloween mood - from movies that make you frighten without any drop of blood to animations that the whole family can enjoy together. (All these movies I selected are available on Netflix.)

🎃 In the Tall Grass 👉Watch Now

2019 / Horror, Drama / TV-MA / 1h 41m

The first movie is <In the Tall Grass>. It is based on a novel by Stephen King, who is one of my favorite authors and the king of horror in this era. Stephen King wrote this novel with his son, Joe Hill. The story is about a sister and brother who entered the vast field of tall grass after hearing a child calling for help but soon realize they can't find a way out. I have saved this movie right after it was on Netflix, but somehow I haven't seen it yet. I will definitely watch it this Halloween!

🎃 Things Heard and Seen 👉Watch Now

2021 / Horror, Drama, Mystery / TV-MA / 2h 1m

<Things Heard and Seen> is a Netflix movie that came out earlier this year. A young couple living in Manhattan moved to a small rural village. The story follows a wife who feels anxious and looks for the secrets of the new house when she starts to see and experience strange things happening, and her husband begins acting off. The synopsis seems just another hunted house story, but wouldn't it be worth it to watch since Amanda Seyfried, one of Hollywood's best actresses, is in it? Editor K kindly saved this for upcoming Halloween.

🎃 Cam 👉Watch Now

2018 / Horror, Drama, Mystery / TV-MA / 1h 34m

<Cam>, a film about a cam girl whose account got hacked by someone, based on Isa Mazzei’s script from her experience. It is a gripping horror story, and it is also related to our reality to encounter personal information insecurity more often in our society, which makes this movie more disturbing.

🎃 Hush 👉Watch Now

2016 / Horror, Mystery, Thriller / R / 1h 21m

This movie, <Hush> reminds me of "Psycho" or "Scream," which are classic horror movies. It's a story that happens when a masked killer breaks in while a deaf writer retreats in a solitary cabin in the wood to work in peace. The silence of this film adds anxiety to the story. So, some people say, 'Do not watch this if you're by yourself in a cabin in the woods!' Watching funny Halloween memes made out from this movie after watching it. It will break your fear and tension!

🎃 It 👉Watch Now

2017 / Horror / R / 2h 14m

I think many of you have already watched this movie. This story begins when a man in a clown costume with a red balloon appears in front of a brother while he's looking for his younger brother, who disappeared one rainy day with his friends. Since the movie was released, this clown costume has consistently been one of the most popular Halloween costumes in recent years. Oh! You will never look at clowns the same way again after watching this film. So be careful if you have not watched it yet. 🤡

🎃 Orphan 👉Watch Now

2009 / Horror, Mystery, Thriller / R / 2h 2m

I think horror movies with creepy children are particularly horrifying, like <Orphan>. A couple lost their child due to miscarriage and adopted a child while grieving. It's a story about a family that experiences when they learn a shocking truth about their adopted child who they believed more mature than other kids. It's more like a psychological thriller of an intense mind game rather than a horror movie. And I think that is why it's scarier.

🎃 Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 👉Watch Now

2007 / Horror, Drama, Musical / R / 1h 56m

Tim Burton + Johnny Depp = Must-Watch! It is <Sweeney Todd> that anyone who likes musicals would love. Benjamin Barker, who lived with his wife and daughter, was falsely accused and imprisoned. After 15 years, he returned to his hometown under the new identity of Swinney Todd to find his wife and daughter and opened a barbershop for revenge. But after opening, many people went to get a haircut and disappeared, and then the meat-pie shop downstairs suddenly tasted better, so countless customers are coming... Doesn't it seem to have a scary twist? 🥶

🎃 Constantine 👉Watch Now

2005 / Horror, Action, Fantasy / R / 2h

A horror-thriller hybrid <Constantine>, starring Keanu Reeves, is the story of John Constantine, a sardonic demon killer, saving the dark world from a world where demons and angels disguised as humans. If you are interested in stories of good and evil, religion, or exorcism, I highly recommend it. And Constantine 2 may return soon, so those who miss Keanu Reeves' Constantine wait just a little longer!

🎃 Happy Death Day 👉Watch Now

2017 / Horror, Mystery, Comedy / PG-13 / 1h 36m

Can you guess what it's about just from the title? A college student was murdered on her birthday night. When she woke up alive, and it was my birthday morning again. <Happy Death Day> is about her struggle to escape the time loop she was killed on her birthday repeatedly. It seems to be a mixture of the movies "Groundhog Day" and "Friday the 13th." Although it's a horror movie, there are many comical elements here and there, so you can laugh and enjoy it.

🎃 Pan's Labyrinth 👉Watch Now

2006 / Horror, Fantasy / R / 1h 59m

It is <Pan's Labyrinth >, a cruel fairytale-like movie with a scary scene. There were many stories that whole families went to watch since they thought it was a fantasy movie for kids after seeing the movie poster, and then the children ran out crying. A Mexican film director, Guillermo del Toro's first Oscar-winning film is set after the Spanish civil war in the 40s. It follows a young girl named Ofelia who lives with her sadistic army officer stepfather and pregnant mother. While she was terrified because everything of her new living circumstances was unfamiliar, she found a labyrinth hidden in the forest one day. Although it is not quite a horror movie, its powerful visual effects and dark storyline are perfect for Halloween.

🎃 Ghostbusters 👉Watch Now

1984 / Action, Fantasy, Comedy / PG / 1h 45m

The must-watch Halloween movie! <Ghostbusters> 👻🚫 Ghostbusters, released in 1984, is about four friends who open an agency named 'Ghostbusters' together to catch ghosts appearing in New York after losing their academic reputations kicked out of the University. The iconic Halloween movie, Ghostbusters, and a sequel after 30 years, <Ghostbusters: Afterlife> will be released soon. So, let's call Ghostbusters 1984 first this Halloween if you haven't seen it yet.

🎃 Corpse Bride 👉Watch Now

2005 / Drama, Animation / PG / 1h 17m

Just because Halloween means to watch horror films doesn't mean you should get only scary ones, right? This Tim Burton classic <Corpse Bride> is the perfect film to get children and adults excited for Halloween. It is a fantastic story that Victor, a timid groom who is afraid of a wedding, practices alone in the woods a day before the wedding, puts a ring on a finger bone on the ground, and is dragged into the underworld because of a misunderstanding of a corpse bride. Corpse Bride, with the solid storytelling that we can hear voices of famous actors, such as Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, Albert Finney, Christopher Lee, is a must-watch movie on Halloween and any time of the year.
